Tropical Mango Pineapple Smoothie

This Tropical Mango Pineapple Smoothie is such an easy way of getting a lot of summery tropical flavors any time of the year. It's sweet and healthy, it's sunshine in a glass! This smoothie is even naturally dairy-free to maximize freshness.

Why you’ll love this recipe

You will love this tropical mango pineapple smoothie because it is summer and sunshine in a glass. It is nutritious with fiber, vitamins and minerals so it's a good way to start the day.

In addition, it is naturally dairy-free so everyone can enjoy it. Because this only has tons of fruits, it is super fresh, which is hard to do with a yogurt-based smoothie.

Ingredients

  • Mango: Mango takes me right back to the South East Asia. The sweetness makes it perfect in a smoothie. Mango is also a great source of potassium and magnesium. It's good for your digestive system, with anti-inflammatory properties. Which is just a bonus, to me, because first of all it is delicious.
  • Pineapple: The perfect tropical fruit, which is also sweet. It's high in manganese and vitamin C. A rich source of fiber.
  • Banana: Banana is used to thicken the smoothie. I know some don't like bananas, and so you can use either ice cubes or avocado to thicken it. If you use ice cubes, keep in mind that it will melt so the thickness doesn't last long.
  • Orange juice and water: To help the blender to blend your fruits into one smooth drink. The amount of juice and water is all to your own (and the blender's) preference.
  • Mint: That little extra burst of freshness is so surprisingly good. But feel free to omit it if you like!

Step-by-step instructions

Add all the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. You can add more water or orange juice to reach your desired consistency. Remember that different blenders may require different amounts of liquid.

You can also add some superfood powders, chia seeds or ground flax seeds if you want to oomph up the nutritional value.

If you want to add dairy, add ½ cup yogurt and start with just ½ cup water and see if you want to add the other half.

Enjoy! So, imagine sitting on a beach, in your bikini and straw hat (or shorts if you will), sipping on this tropical mango pineapple smoothie while soaking up the sun and bury your toes in the hot sand.

Storage

I definitely prefer to drink my smoothies immediately. However, it can be stored covered in the refrigerator for about 1 day.

If you let it sit, the ingredients can separate a little. You can pour it back into the blender and blend until combined, or just stir it.

Recipe FAQs

How to make it even more nutritious?

The things I love to add to smoothies to make them more nutritious are hemp seeds, chia seeds and other superfoods.

You could even add superfood powders like butterfly pea powder, activated charcoal or pink pitaya but remember that the color of the smoothie will get different.

How to make it into a smoothie bowl?

A smoothie bowl is just a really thick smoothie. Make it as thick as your blender allows, but it's even better if you can use your food processor. In the food processor you can use just the fruits and no liquid. If you use only frozen fruits, it will be even thicker.

If you need to add a little water, stir in 2 tablespoons almond meal later to make it thicker. Add to a bowl and top with fresh fruits, nuts and seeds!

Can I use fresh fruit in my smoothie?

Yes you can use both fresh and frozen fruits, no matter the ratio. However, frozen fruit will make the smoothie thicker and fresh fruit will make it thinner. If you use only fresh fruits, you may need to use less water to get the desired consistency.

Like you, I often use banana as a natural thickener and base for my smoothies. I love the tropical combo of mango and pineapple as the key flavours.
