Spicy Guacamole

Spicy Guacamole

JUMP TO RECIPE

Guacamole is one of the pillars of Mexican cuisine. You can use it with everything; tacos, burritos, moles, tostadas, quesadillas, enchiladas (I have another exciting Mexican recipe coming up soon). You know, all the good comforting and spicy Mexican food out there. But – it doesn’t have to be restricted to Mexican food, you can use it whenever you feel like it, in my opinion. I use my leftover guacamole on toast with a fried or boiled egg, and you could use it for whatever barbeque you throw together – how about that.

Yummy Spicy Guacamole

You might not be overly surprised by the fact that I also like my guacamole on the spicier side. However, it’s very easy to just reduce the amount of heat if you prefer. It’s important that you use ripe avocados, they taste more and have that creamy texture that melt on our tongues. Yum. And better yet, avocados are so good for you. Did you know avocados contain more potassium than bananas? Low in sodium and saturated fat, high in fiber and antioxidants. There you have it, healthy things can also be super delicious.

In my recipe you just toss everything together, taste it and see if you want more spices in it. Sometimes I have to adjust my cumin, salt and pepper. I also prefer using whole cayenne peppers and crush them in a mortar, but you could substitute with chili flakes if you don’t have them on hand.

So. Easy. And so tasty! Enjoy.

Instructions
  1. After you've open the avocados, add them in a bowl and make a creamy paste with a fork. I don't want it to be overly mixed as I like small bits of avocados in my guacamole.
  2. Grate a clove garlic and mince a chili, add into the avocados. Chop the cilantro. Get the juice from the lime, but don't add more than half at first. Crush whole cayenne peppers in a mortar and add along with the other ingredients.
  3. Mix until everything is incorporated, taste and consider if you want to add more spices and lime juice.
Recipe Notes

Remember that if you find it a little too sour because of the lime, it doesn't matter because when you combine the guacamole with a delicious Mexican dish, it balances well.
